CharityBooks 2005 - Newsletter No:2 |
Welcome to the second Charity Books newsletter of 2005!
February was our second full month of operation and it proved to be a busy one. ++++++++++++++++++++ We wrote to Michael Palin (a proud patron of this charity) to tell him about Charity Books and the money raised for The Medical Foundation and he kindly responded by sending us signed first edition copies of his books Sahara and Himalaya. These have been auctioned already and contributed another £30 for the Charity. ++++++++++++++++++++ Many thanks to Working Partners Ltd of Hammersmith who have donated 250+ brand new childrens books and 50+ audio books. All of these are in mint condition so we are confident that they will sell well. ++++++++++++++++++++ World Book Day was designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and was marked in over 30 countries around the globe last year. It is a partnership of publishers, booksellers and interested parties who work together to promote books and reading for the personal enrichment and enjoyment of all. A main aim of World Book Day is to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books and reading by providing them with the opportunity to have a book of their very own. More info can be found at www.worldbookday.com ++++++++++++++++++++ Ideally we need hardback books that are in good condition. Non-fiction books can be just as popular as novels. Call us on 01189 790169 to talk through the donation process. ++++++++++++++++++++ Make sure you spread the Charity Books word - we can make a difference! Enjoy your books! Tom Hope NB.
